A Southern gentleman( that's me)'s favorite drink helps lend it's classic flavor to take these Swedish style meatballs up a notch.
PS. Don't omit the nutmeg....its essential to the awesomeness of this recipe!
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Gently and thoroughly mix together meat, egg, breadcrumbs, and all seasonings until well combined. Form the mixture into medium sized balls (slightly smaller than a golf ball) and place on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes. Flip meatballs and cook for another 5-10 minutes. When ready, remove meatballs from the oven and set aside.
In a saucepan, bring brown sugar, Coca-Cola, and bourbon to a boil. Lower to medium-low heat and cook for 7-10 minutes, stirring often, until the mixture gets thick and viscous. Place the meatballs in the brown sugar and coke/bourbon mixture and toss until well coated and glazed. Remove from pan and serve immediately.
